Senior Engineering Technician
Job Description
Reno Tahoe Geo Associates, Inc. has an immediate opening for an Senior Engineering Technician to join its team.
Main Responsibilities
-
The Senior Engineering Technician works closely with the Project Managers and Contractors associated with the projects.
-
Applies specialized technical knowledge to understand engineering and construction problems.
-
Checks materials and procedures for compliance with plans and specification.
-
Conducts a variety of standardized tests by preparing test specimens, setting up and operating standard test equipment, and recording data and preparing reports including Daily Field Reports.
-
Responsible for maintaining the safe working conditions of all lab and field equipment used in performing duties.
-
Conduct and/or participate in a variety of meetings and conferences related to projects.
-
Maintain awareness of current company policies and procedures and adhere to those regulations. Act in a manner consistent with the company policy of dedication to providing quality services and conducting affairs honorably, responsibly, ethically and lawfully.

Aid in preforming field measurements and exploratory work.
-
Essential functions of this position require physical abilities such as climbing, stooping, kneeling, lifting and repetitive motions.
Qualifications
-
Minimum of 10 years of experience in laboratory testing, on-site construction observation, and materials testing.
-
Must have an understanding of geotechnical investigation fieldwork and related documentation. Must understand public, industrial, commercial and residential construction.

Must be able to read and understand project plans and specifications, construction drawings, and geotechnical recommendations.
-
Must possess Radiation Safety Training certification, A.C.I. Field Testing Technician certification, I.C.C. Special Inspector certifications for reinforced concrete and additional certifications in structural steel and welding, and structural masonry.

Must be well-organized and able to monitor several projects concurrently. Must possess initiative, resourcefulness, and motivation in solving complicated and perplexing problems under varying and sometimes adverse conditions.

Must possess good communication and human relation skills to work with public, government agency personnel, technical professionals, and fellow employees. Ability to effectively communicate technical information (orally and in writing)

Job Description
Reno Tahoe Geo Associates, Inc. has an immediate opening for a Staff Professional 1 - E.I.T. to join its team.
Responsibilities
-
The Staff Professional 1 applies specialized technical knowledge to understand engineering problems, consider alternatives, and develop feasible plans that are cost effective and environmentally acceptable.

The Staff Professional 1 performs specialized engineering and geologic analyses related to foundation design, wall design, slope stability, geologic hazards evaluation, geologic mapping research, site grading, drainage, surface hydrology, water supply, and onsite disposal, shoreline protections, materials engineering, forensic investigations, etc.
-
The Staff Professional1 may act as Project Manager for small and/or relatively simple projects, managing all aspects of the projects including engineering activities, scheduling, designs, plans, specifications, technical tests or studies and billings.

The Staff Professional 1 performs or assists in geotechnical field investigations, including monitoring/observing test drilling and sampling; logging test borings, and test pits; classifying soil types and consistency, and preparing field reports summarizing geotechnical field activities and site descriptions.
Qualifications

B.S. Civil Engineering
-
Possesses Engineering-in-Training and is advancing toward registration as a Professional Engineer in California or Nevada
-
Developing an ability to read construction plans. Knowledge of computerized drafting (AutoCAD) and data management.

Must be well organized and able to monitor at least two projects concurrently.

Ability to apply fundamental and diversified professional engineering concepts, theories, and practices to achieve engineering objectives. Possesses initiative, resourcefulness and motivation in solving complicated and perplexing problems under varying and sometimes adverse conditions.

Must possess good communications and human relation skills to work with public, government agency personnel, technical professionals, and fellow employees. Must have ability to effectively communicate technical information orally and in writing.
