ICC / CWI Special Inspector & Engineering Technician

Job Description

RTGA has an immediate opening for ICC / CWI Special Inspector & Engineering Technician.  The ICC / CWI Special Inspector will perform special inspection and material testing duties as required of specific project plans, specifications, and of jurisdictional requirements. 

 

The ICC / CWI Special Inspector & Engineering Technician is based in our Reno, Nevada office for projects located throughout the Reno, Lake Tahoe Basin, and occasional rural Northern Nevada locations.

 

Main Responsibilities

  • ICC / CWI Special Inspector & Engineering Technician duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Perform special inspection and materials testing in accordance with project plans and specifications and jurisdiction codes.

  • Check materials and procedures for compliance with plans and specifications

  • Apply specialized technical knowledge to understand engineering and construction problems

  • Prepare complete and legible reports including Daily Field Reports in Excel.  Reports are submitted on a daily basis. 

 

Qualifications

Qualifications for the position of CWI Special Inspector include:

  • 1 year experience in materials testing and construction observation

  • Active CWI Certification

  • ICC Special Inspector Welding

  • ICC Special Inspector Structural Steel & Bolting

  • ICC Special Inspector Reinforced Concrete

  • OSHA 10-hour certification

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Capable in Microsoft Word and Excel

  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record

 

Additional desired certifications:

  • ACI Grade 1 Concrete Field Testing Technician certification

  • Nuclear density gauge certification

  • ICC Special Inspector Structural Masonry

  • NAQTC Aggregate, Sampling & Density, and Asphalt certifications

  • Soils and concrete laboratory testing experience

Civil Engineer (P.E. or E.I.T.)

Job Description

RTGA has an immediate opening for a Civil Engineer to join our team. The Civil Engineer will work on diverse projects for private, commercial, industrial, and public works clients.

 

Main Responsibilities

  • Specialized engineering analysis related to foundation and wall design, slope stability, site grading, drainage, surface hydrology, water supply, onsite disposal, shoreline protection, and materials engineering.

  • Perform engineering studies and analysis, and generate technical reports and civil plans for a wide variety of projects including private, commercial, industrial, and public works

  • Preparation of civil site development plans to meet City and County standards for residential and commercial grading and construction projects. Engineering design of grading, utilities, drainage and BMP’s. Scheduling of work and deliverables. Preparation of plans and specifications.

 

Qualifications

Bachelors and/or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering

Possesses P.E. or, Engineer-in-Training and advancing toward registration as Professional Engineer in Nevada and/or California

Possesses initiative, resourcefulness and motivation in resolving site preparation and engineering design problems

Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills and ability to work in a team environment on various projects

0-5 years of civil engineering experience in the following:

  • Civil engineering-related evaluation and design

  • Analysis and design of projects

  • Participation in a variety of projects which include civil / geotechnical / investigation / design /plan preparation / permitting / construction

  • Proficient in latest versions of AutoCAD and experience in Civil 3D

  • Experience in civil engineering design and an ability to prepare construction plans for site development, shoreline protection, slope repair, etc.

Current Driver’s License

OSHA and/or MSHA safety certification is desirable
