Associate Civil Engineer

Job Description

Reno Tahoe Geo Associates, Inc. has an immediate opening for an Associate Civil Engineer to join its team. The Associate Civil Engineer will manage and design civil projects for both private and public clients. The Associate Civil Engineer will have an opportunity to function in multiple roles.

 

Main Responsibilities

  • Act as technical lead for civil studies and analysis and generates technical reports for a wide variety of projects including private, commercial, industrial, and public works.

  • Direct and manage projects including engineering activities and scheduling.

  • Act as interface with clients for assigned projects, communicate with clients on an ongoing basis, respond effectively to meet client needs. Design and prepare plans, specifications, technical studies, and reports.

  • Direct or perform civil design including grading, drainage, and utility design in AutoCAD.

  • Develop plans that meet pertinent building code, building department, and utility entity requirements for small residential and commercial design and permitting.

  • Coordinate and review construction monitoring and special inspections.

  • Apply specialized engineering analysis related to foundation and wall design, site grading, drainage, surface hydrology, onsite disposal, shoreline protection, and materials engineering.

  • Regularly communicate with clients regarding project expectations and project parameters, and budgets.

  • Generate technical proposals for a wide variety of projects. Market and developing clients and projects.

  • Maintenance of a high standard of engineering standards, ethics, and responsibility for the firm including safety training, and mentoring staff and senior engineers.

Qualifications

  • B.S. Civil Engineering or M.S. Civil Engineering

  • Licensure as Professional Engineer in Nevada and/or California

  • 12+ years of civil engineering-related experience

  • Proficient in latest versions of AutoCAD and Civil 3D

  • Previous experience in a variety of projects which include site design, civil plan preparation, permitting, and construction

  • Field and project management experience associated with subsurface investigations, forensic investigation, and construction-phase observation, documentation, and materials testing

  • Strong technical writing and analytical skills verified by samples of engineering reports and work substantially prepared by candidate

  • Strong leadership and analytical skills

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills and ability to work in a team environment on various projects

  • Current Driver’s License

  • OSHA and/or MSHA safety certification is desirable
